Week 8

Sneak Peek of the Week

Week 8: October 17th-October 18th

Hello families,

This will be a short week for the students!  School will be in session on Monday and Tuesday.  Since it's a short week, I will not be sending the green folder home.  The folder will be sent home next Monday and returned at the end of the week, as usual.  Your child will keep his/her library book for the week and return it by Thursday, October 27th.

Reader's Workshop

Last week we worked in our small Guided Reading Groups.  We'll continue to work in our groups for this short week.  In addition, I'll be working with students to record beginning literacy skills.  I will share your child's results with you at his/her fall conference.

This week we'll continue to name and discuss the features of 2-D shapes.  Our math centers will focus on our math learning targets while also reviewing pattern work from Unit 1 (for example, creating AB and ABC patterns).  You can help your child by going on a "shape hunt" (look for and record different 2-D shapes) at home!

Reading Buddies

The Kindergarteners had an absolute blast meeting with their 3rd grade buddy!  We greeted one another and practiced reading as a pair, or group of three.  We look forward to reading with our buddies next Friday morning!

Special Notes:

  • There is no school this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

That is the news for now!  I look forward to seeing you at conferences!
