Week 17

Sneak Peek of the Week

Week 17: January 3rd-6th

Dear Families,

Happy New Year!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.  I look forward to seeing your child and hearing about his/her winter break!

After being away for a few weeks, it's important to review and practice important classroom/school routines and procedures.  This includes expectations for school arrival, transitions throughout the day, lunch, and so on.  In addition we'll review routines for academic and social learning.  For example, we'll practice "Read to Self" during Reader's Workshop as well as moving through Math stations.  Also, we'll engage in community-building games and activities.

As a reminder, here are the current math learning targets:

  1. I can represent numbers up to 20 (or higher) in many different ways.
  2. I can count forward from any number up to 10 (or higher).
  3. I can accurately count to solve problems.
  4. I can find a number that is 1 more or 1 less than a given number.
  5. I can compare and order whole numbers, with and without objects, from 0 to 20 (or higher).

Special Notes:

-Please mark your calendars for no school days in January:

  • Monday, January 16th (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
  • Friday, January 27th (Record Keeping Day)
  • Monday, January 30th (Teacher Professional Development Day)

That's the news for now!  Have a great week!
