A bit about me… I was born in Taiwan. I came to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue education. It was such a wonderful place and I had a great experience meeting and learning about different cultures and perspectives, and I met my husband in the school. We have been married for almost 30 years and we have two adult children. I started my teaching career ten-plus years ago. I have taught suburban high schools, MPS high school, middle school, and elementary school. I have the passion and desire to share my journey and to mentor others in their life journey. I like to cook different foods, travel, and learn new things and new cultures.
I believe in… Growth mindset, welcoming diversity and different cultural practices, being a team player, having a positive attitude with kindness, and believing every child has the potential to learn.
My educational journey… I stayed home with my children and homeschooled them when they were young. I enjoyed teaching them and watching them grow and mature in every aspect as a person. I decided to be a teacher. I had the opportunity to return back to school to pursue a Master of Education degree at the University of Minnesota when my children were a little older. I do enjoy digital learning. I was a presenter on the Sustainability of Language Learning Using TPCK Model at the MCTLC 2013 conference.
Books… I like to read biographies and love to read books by Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, and Max Lucado’s children's books.

A bit about me… I love Minneapolis! I live in South Minneapolis with my husband (who is also an MPS teacher!) and daughter. I love to explore lakes, coffee shops, and restaurants throughout the city. I also love to travel and learn about new places, people, and cultures. I am excited to see you all this year!
I believe in… Getting to know students and their culture and incorporating it into my teaching. Students teach me just as much as I teach them!
My education journey… I started my education journey working for the Minnesota Reading Corps as a Kindergarten Tutor at Northrop Elementary. From there I decided to get my Masters in Education at the U and started teaching right after. Since then I have learned so much! I am ENVoY certified and have had Responsive Classroom training. I have also presented at the MinneTESOL conference on RISA strategies for oral interaction.
Books… I love any book that teaches me about a new culture, especially Young Adult books. A recent favorite I have read is When the Stars are Scattered. I am always looking for suggestions!
Stories to tell… Jurassic Park helicopter tour, free cheese curds, visiting the North Shore, visiting classrooms in other countries, New Years Eve fireworks in Peru, and many other travel stories and adventures with my family!
