A bit about me… I started my teaching career at Nellie Stone Johnson School as a student teacher nine years ago. This fall will be the beginning of my eighth year teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools and I’ve loved working and learning with students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Everyday is a learning adventure that we can all share!

In addition to teaching and learning, I also love spending time with my family, friends, pets and my new husband. We just got married this past June. Reading, listening to music, dancing, going on walks, painting, attending yoga classes, watching hockey (Go WILD), going on trips, and laughing are also very close to my heart.

I believe in-- asking questions; always trying your best; being kind and supportive of others; teamwork and collaboration; being yourself and learning from others; love and family. I believe-- all students can learn; we are all important and special; we all have something to share with the world.

My education journey-- I grew up surrounded by books and read with my parents daily. The first book I could read on my own was Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You?  by: Dr. Seuss because of how often I read it with my parents. At the age of three I started dance lessons and loved learning new dances and techniques over the 15 years I was a part of my dance studio. I also had many caring teachers growing up starting at my Montessori school and also in Columbia Heights School District. I’ve student taught in 2nd grade, taught 4th and 5th grade reading groups, a 4th grade Math specialist class, 3rd grade for four years, 1st grade for two years, intervention groups and various grade levels in the after school program. My passion lies in working with students, families, and other educators. I love learning and instilling a love of learning in others.

Books-- It is always hard for me to choose favorites, but I absolutely adore Dr. Seuss; books by Kevin Henkes; SkippyjonJones books by Judy Schachner always make me laugh; and reading books about math instruction makes me happy as well as sappy love stories (because I am a hopeless romantic). I love sharing my love of reading with others.

Stories to tell-- my engagement in Rocky Mountain National Park in April; family trips up north fishing; trips to visit family and friends in Texas; the race through the airport to catch my first flight alone; adventures with our new puppy, Harley Rae, who my husband and I welcomed to our home a little over a year ago; my wedding day and our many wedding adventures this summer!

I am so excited to be a part of the Webster Elementary School Community again this year! I look forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new Webster friends, and working together!
