Week 22

Sneak Peek of the Week

Week 22: February 6th-10th

Dear Families,

Literacy Pilot

Last week we began our implementation of the Literacy pilot (Journeys from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt).  As you know, the change in literacy materials shifted some of our routines in Reader's Workshop (for details, please refer to last week's newsletter).  The Kindergarten students did a wonderful job in our first week.  We had a lot of fun discussing seasons, weather and how they are related!

Please keep in mind that I will not share literacy news in the Sneak Peek of the Week.  Rather, you will receive a 3-page newsletter each week that highlights what we're working on.  Please read the newsletters each week so you can stay updated on what we're working on during our Reader's Workshop.  Also, I encourage you to try some of the at home ideas with your child!  Your child will be able to make important literacy connections with you!

Puppet Show

You will find a invitation to see our puppet show on Monday, February 13th!  Please read the information on the invitation.  We hope you can make it!

Special Notes:

-I have not received enough boxes in order to create Valentine boxes for February 14th.  I've decided that I will purchase white bags for the students to decorate before we pass out Valetines.  If you did send in boxes, I will use them for another classroom purpose unless you would like me to send it back with your child (please let me know if you would like your box sent home).  Also, please let me know ASAP if you need any support in getting Valentines for your child to pass out.  I would be happy to help but I will need to know by the end of the week so I can send home materials with your child.  Thank you!

-You will find a "Love Note" in your child's folder (return to school side).  Please send your completed Love Note by Friday so we can hang them in our classroom!

-No School Friday, February 17th (Conference Day) and Monday, February 20th (President's Day)

Thank you,

Diana
